We can’t get the rainforest out of our minds. Every opportunity we have to relate the kids’ future in the forest with our mundane activities in England, we grab it. So we turned the ‘Bling Your Wheels’ competition at the latest school fair into just one of those opportunities.

There were ghosts and ballet dancers and teddy bears and footballers floating on the handle bars….but we had a whole rainforest ecosystem! On the way home from a playdate the night before, we gathered branches and all sorts of foliage around St Margarets. Then got all of Uma’s fluffy rainforest soft toys together and came up with a real winner!

Admittedly, we mixed up things a bit. So our sloths were next to orang-utans, but everyone loved the snakes and apes and monkeys – and Uma got a really well deserved 1st prize!
